I was like
In America, young people started to use this sentence a lot.
It’s not very good English, but you will hear that very often in America.
“like” is the Chinese word “像” and with that sentence, people want to describe what they did in the past or how they reacted in a special situation.
Examples:
“Yesterday, my boyfriend was so angry and screamed at me, and I was like: Why are you so angry?”
“Last year I was in Italy on holidays. It was so hot and I was like: I’m going to die if it stays that hot!”
