foot 脚 Every beginner of English knows this simple word. But it is not always simple. “The baby has just found his feet. ” If you take the sentence literally ，you will not think that it makes sense. But it does. It means that the baby has just learned how to walk. In comparison, the phrase stand on one's own feet is easier to understand，for there is a similar expression in Chinese. One should try to stand on one's feet when one has grown up. 每个初学英语的人都认识这个简单的词。不过它并非总是那么简单，the baby has just found his feet，如果你从字面上去理解这个句子，你就会觉得它没有意义。但它是有意义的。含义是：婴儿刚刚学会了走路。比较起来，stand on one's own feet（自立），这句话则较易于掌握，因为中文也有类似的说法，一个人长大了就应该力求自立。
