Fork 叉子
When you eat European food, you use “a knife and fork”. This is a fixed phrase. Don't say “a knife and a fork ”instead. If you really care for western-style food, you will need to know that the knife is put on the right side of the plate and used by the right hand. The fork is on the left and British people use it with their left hand only but Americans use it with the left hand when cutting and with the right hand when eating.
“Fingers were made before forks”.Have you ever come across this saying? English people use it as humorous excuse for eating anything with their fingers instead of using a fork.
a knife and fork是个固定的用语,而可不要说成是a knife and a fork。
