1. Their common physiological function is to transport and digest the foodstuff, and excrete the waste.

According to Nan Jing ( Classic of Difficulties), for a good digestion and absorption, food undergoes“seven important portals”from being taken into the body to being discharged outof the body, including the flying portal ( lips),house portal ( teeth ),inhaling portal( epiglottis),cardia ( upper opening of the stomach), pylorus ( lower opening of thestomach),railing portal ( conjunction of the large intestine and small intestine) and corporeal Soul Portal (anus).
3. The six fu-organs constantly receive, digest and transport the foodstuff, and yet excrete the waste, which is a process demanding non-stagnation but smoothness. Therefore there is asaying in TCM“only when they are unobstructed can the six fu-organs function well”.
4. The gallbladder is located under the right hypochondrium, attaching to the liver.
5. The gallbladder is interiorly and exteriorly related to the liver.
6. The bile produced as the surplus liver qi flows into the gallbladder where it is stored.
7. The gallbladder also has the function to make decision and judgment.
8. The gallbladder is in morphology an organ hollow inside and with a cavity, just similar to the other six fu-organs, so it is one of the six fu-organs.
9. The main physiological function of the stomach is to receive and decompose food.
10. The small intestine and the heart are in pair.
11. The small intestine receives the chyme transmitted from the stomach and further digests it. Then it separates the lucid from the turbid , absorbing the nutrient part, and transmitting theresidue to the large intestine.
12. The small intestine dominates fluid.
13. The large intestine dominates liquid.
14. The main function of the bladder is to store the urine and discharge it out of the body through its qi transformation with the regulation of kidney qi transformation.
15. Since the triple energizer is considered as the largest fu-organ in the body, it is termed “solitary fu-organ".
16. The main function of the triple energizer is to serve as the passage for the flow of original qi and water.
17. The original qi originates from the kidney, but it needs the triple energizer as its pathway for distribution in order to stimulate and promote the functional activities of the zang- organs,.
18. It is said in Ling Shu that“the upper energizer functions as a sprayer".
19. They are similar to the fu-organs in morphology and to the zang organs in function.
20. In the Ming Dynasty, Li Shizhen said,“the brain is the house of original spirit".
21. In the Qing Dynasty, Wang Qingren pointed out, “the intelligence and memory come from the brain, not from the heart" .
22. Therefore the dysfunction of the organs mentioned above will affect the normal functions of the uterus.
