The thing is , I always wanted China to be prosperous and I always looked forward to the future. And then I have this incredibly dysfunctional government that would ruin it every time. Not my people, my people would die to make it strong.
But we didn’t have a lot of budget, so sometimes we would like borrow weapons and like whatever it was that we could afford. And I was like when I take office, I’m never gonna let that happen. I’m gonna make China powerful everywhere.
I have such an emotional connection to China. And it wasn’t about the power. It was just about the dignity of being Chinese and just feeling in the spirit, and the responsibility for me to devote myself and make a contribution that made me feel proud for the rest of my life.
