1. When I first saw the name, I wasvery curious. Why this place is called like this? Does the water smell like perfume? So I looked up on the web and I found two versions. The first one is more like mythical, is more like a legend.
2. In ancient times, fishermen, they often saw two beauties coming down from the sky to take a bath in this bay. And they pickedup exotic flowers, I mean, those two beauties. They picked up exotic flowers and some herbs. Everybody could smell them very far away. Since then, they named this place, Xiangshui Wan, perfume bay.
3. Another version is close to the reality. Near this bay, there is Niuling Mountain. On top of that mountain there are a lot of camphor trees. And when camphor trees, they grow up to a certain age, they start to release some kind of oil. When the rain comes, all that oil, it comes down by the streams to the sea. And that’s why they named it Xiangshui Wan.
