Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or① award for 2013, ending Lionel Messi's three-year run as the world's best player.
Ronaldo edged out both Messi and Bayern Munich winger② Franck Ribery in a tight race to claim the award.
Ronaldo scored 69 goals for Real Madrid and Portugal last year.
The 28-year-old also had a stunning③ hat-trick against Sweden in a decisive World Cup play-off to secure his country a place in Brazil.
Ronaldo was also voted FIFA Player of the Year in 2008, before Messi began a run of four successive titles.
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed the Puskas Award for the "most beautiful goal" following an audacious④ overhead kick for Sweden against England in November 2012.
Ibrahimovic admits he's pretty proud of his goal.
"I think that however who has done that goal deserves⑤ to win a trophy for it. Yes it was in a friendly game but, it's a goal that remains in the history. People will remember it for a long time and players will try to make it but I am the one who made it and I'm very happy. "
Meanwhile, Jupp Heynckes of Germany has been named World Coach of the Year for a men's team.
Heynckes secured the German League title, the German Cup and the UEFA Champions League trophy with Bayern Munich before retiring last summer.
