32nd Harbin Music Festival starts today
The 32nd Harbin Summer Music Festival kicks off today.
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Harbin's City Government, the event includes chamber concerts, national music competitions, symphonies and outdoor performances.
During the festival, renowned orchestras such as the British Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, plus notable musicians and performers from across the globe will showcase the unique culture of Harbin, at various venues, including music halls and public squares.
Chinese original musical "Jane Eyre" directed by Wang Xiaoying and performed by the Hangzhou Theatre troupe will be staged at Harbin's Huanqiu Theatre for two nights.
Thousands of people from all over the world are expected to attend the festival, which runs until the 15th August.
So Ji Sub meets fans in Hong Kong
South Korean singer and actor So Ji Sub has attended a mall event ahead of his fan meeting in Hong Kong.
Known for his role in the television drama "Master's Sun" the 36 year was on his first official visit to Hong Kong, where over 500 overzealous fans greeted him.
Speaking of his character on "Master's Sun," So said he was nothing like the man he played.
"My personality is completely different from the character that I play In 'Master's Sun' (a South Korean television drama). However, I like my character in the drama very much. The characters that I play in television dramas are more aloof. I liked my previous roles better, but for some reason, fans accepted my character in 'Master's Sun' so I'm happy about that too."
So also ventured into film, starring opposite Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi in "Sophie's Revenge."
In addition to acting, So Ji Sub has released singles and mini albums, he has just released his latest album after 18 years in which he not only sings but raps.
So is scheduled to attend a fan meeting in Hong Kong, before continuing onto Singapore, the next stop of his Asian fan tour.
Production begins on "Alice in Wonderland" sequel
Production begins this week on the highly anticipated sequel to Tim Burton's blockbuster Alice in Wonderland.

Following the success of the first reinvention of the classic animation, production will include the same cast as the 2010 Oscar winning film.
Burton is co-producing but not directing "Alice in Wonderland: Through the looking glass", in which Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasi-kow-ska – who plays Alice - will reprise their roles.
Joining the film version of the fantasy world created by author Lewis Carroll, is British Comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, and Rhys Ifans, who will step into the role of Zanik Hightop, the father of Johnny Depp's character, the MadHatter.
The film, directed by James Bobin, is set for release in May 2016.
Ghibli Studio do 'NOT' plan on stopping production
Japanese animated film-maker Ghibli Studio, whose hits include Oscar winner "Spirited Away" has said they do not plan on stopping production.
Rumors have been escalating that film development was halted after director Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement last September.
But a Ghibli Studio spokesman said in Tokyo that Ghibli does not plan to stop producing animated films, but needs to reconsider the course of its future.
Previously, the studio admitted that the departure of its most recognizable filmmaker caused them to rethink the future.
Ghibli Studio has made animated movies for almost 30 years, with other hits including Princess Monoke and My Neighbour Totoro.
Victoria Beckham dress sale to benefit African mothers with HIV
British fashion designer Victoria Beckham is giving away 600 pieces of clothing to raise money for mothers living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa.
All the items are going under the hammer in aid of raising awareness for mothers2mothers, a charity that works to prevent the transmission of HIV from mothers to babies, in nine countries including South Africa, Swaziland and Kenya.
Beckham who is also a former pop star will be giving away several evening dresses, pieces from her days with pop group "The Spice Girls", items from fashions shows and red carpet appearances with her husband and former England football captain David Beckham.
Mothers2mothers founder Mitch Besser said the money raised from the auction will be transformational for the organization that trains and employs mothers living with HIV to mentor other HIV-positive mothers in their community.
The OUTNET.COM, an online fashion outlet will host the private online sale from 20 - 25 August.
