The Chinese government is calling on the international community to come up with new thinking in its response to terrorism, while at the same time, pledging humanitarian aid for Iraq. CRI's Cao Yuwei has more. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has made the call during a UN Security Council summit on terrorism in New York, where the group adopted a binding resolution on fighting the Islamic State. "The resolution reflects the common desire of the international community, and should be implemented in a comprehensive and balanced manner. Terrorists disregard basic human rights and challenge human's base line of civilization. They are the world's common enemy." Wang Yi suggests all countries need to step up their information gathering and sharing, while blocking the movement and financing of terrorists. China's Foreign Minister is also calling on Internet companies and operators to self-regulate to stop the use of social media to spread extremist ideas and videos showing violence and terror. At the same time, Wang Yi has also announced China is going to provide new aid to Iraq in light of the humanitarian crisis in the country. "China will provide emergency humanitarian assistance worth 60-million Yuan to Iraq, including the Kurdistan region. In front of justice and unity, terrorism cannot escape from scrutiny, and it will definitely be defeated." A new US-drafted resolution is requiring all UN member states to prosecute people who take part or even attempt to take part in militant training or help to finance such activities. At the same time, U.S President Barack Obama is vowing to maintain the international coalition to dismantle the Islamic State. "There can be no reasoning - no negotiation - with this brand of evil. The only language understood by killers like this is the language of force. So the United States of America will work with a broad coalition to dismantle this network of death." Over 40 countries, including many from the Arab world, have already offered to join the fight against the Islamic State. For CRI, I'm Cao Yuwei.
