Sporting world pays tribute to slain South African Football hero Senzo Meyiwa
Senzo Meyiwa was South Africa's star goalkeeper who just last month became the country's captain, at the age of 27.
It seemed almost certain that Meyiwa was heading for sporting greatness, but on Sunday it all came to a tragic end, when the young footballer was shot by armed burglars who had broken into his girlfriend's home in a township close to Johannesburg.
South Africa's Sports minister says the country has been robbed of an icon and a legend in the making.
"We have lost a role model. We have lost a patriot. We have lost a great winner for the team. He was taken away from us by criminals."
South Africa's football coach Ephraim Mashaba paid a tearful tribute to captain Senzo Meyiwa
"Senzo was beyond being a player. He was a leader. He was a peacemaker in the camp. We all have to come together. Let's pray hard. Let's pray hard."
Sport stars all over the world mourned the loss of this bright young star.
South African midfielder Dean Furman said his teammates were utterly devastated by the news.
Furman stressed that Meyiwa has a young family so there's more to it than losing just a footballer
South Africa rugby union or the Springboks tweeted saying "No words can describe the tragic and untimely death of Senzo Meyiwa. A true South African hero taken way to soon!"
Meyiwa, played for Orlando Pirates and featured in South Africa's last four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
South Africa's domestic soccer league has postponed this weekend's derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaiser Chiefs as a mark of respect for Senzo Meyiwa.
Zinedine Zidane gets three-month coaching ban
Former French football captain Zinedine Zidane has been suspended from coaching after it was revealed that he was coaching Real Madrid's reserve-team without the right qualifications.
The Spanish Football Federation banned Zidane on Monday.
Real Madrid says that they "absolute disagreed" with this decision and that they would challenge it.
The club said that Zidane has been authorized by the French Football Federation to work as the head coach for Real Madrid's reserve-team.
Zidane was appointed reserve-team coach this summer after working as the assistant to Carlo Ancelotti last season, which ended with Real winning the Champions League.
The former France midfielder has also spent five seasons with Real as a player, after joining from Juventus in 2001 for 45.8m pounds, then a world-record fee.
His playing career ended in controversy when he was sent off in the 2006 World Cup final, his last match before retiring, for headbutting Italian defender Marco Materazzi in the chest.

Chinese Divers have picked up Gold medals in all eight events at the eighth and final leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix, in Malaysia.
In the women's competition, China's Wang Han made a faultless dive in the 3 meter springboard event to win the gold medal defeating teammate and current world Champion Liu Huixia .
In the men's 10 meter platform event, defending World champion Ren Qian clinched his fifth gold medal this season.
Li Shixin emerged victorious in the 3 meter springboard event on the men's side.
The FINA Diving Grand Prix kicked off in February this year and was held in eight stages in different cities around the world and its final-leg, held in Kuala Lumpur, wrapped up over the weekend.
