"The most important thing for us is to figure out how to support these young designers. We have to find a way to sell their products. So we invited them, as well as fashion buyers to our exhibitions. Hopefully these buyers can place orders that bring the designers' idea into the market."
Designers from around the world are bringing their latest designs from the 2015 spring/summer collection.
There will be 66 new launches. Fashion week runs for 9 days and lasts till early November.
2014 MAMA to be held in HK in Dec.
The 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards will be held on December 3 in Hong Kong.
Established in South Korea in 1999, it is the most authoritative musical celebration in the country and the biggest event of its kind in Asia.
It is the third time it has come to Hong Kong.
Artists across Asia are competing for 17 awards this year.
The event is collaborating with Chinese video-sharing site Youku. Chinese fans can cast their votes for their choice of the awards online.
The event invites guest stars to perform and present the awards. Past guests include Jackie Chan, Paris Hilton, Rain and Stevie Wonder.
7th Peking Opera Festival to be held in Tianjin
The 7th Peking Opera Festival will be held in Tianjin next month.
More than three-thousand artists from 33 opera houses around the Chinese mainland and Taiwan will be performing.
You Qingbo is deputy chief of Tianjin's Cultural, Broadcasting and TV Bureau.
"There will be remakes of historical plays, modern plays, and plays adapted from classic novels. Some of the most well-known opera singers will join the lineup."
The operas will also be staged in residential communities and schools, along with lectures that will educate people on the knowledge of Peking Opera.
Lucas Podolski to make acting debut
German footballer Lucas Podolski is to star in a comedy film called "Macho Man".
Podolski has already filmed his scenes in the film, most of which took place in a stadium.
The story is set in Podolski's hometown Cologne. It is about the love life of a shy character and his relationship with a Turkish woman.
The film is set for release in October next year.
Podolski is currently playing for England's Arsenal.
He won the FIFA World Cup as part of the German team in July.
Historians uncover Dracula's dungeon in N. Turkey
Archeologists working at the Tokat castle in northern Turkey believe they have uncovered the dungeon that held Prince Vlad III of Romania, the inspiration behind Bram Stocker's groundbreaking vampire fiction Dracula.
Historical records show Vlad III was held as a diplomatic hostage under the Ottoman Empire, then located in today's Turkey.
The team working on the Tokat Castle site is confident that this is the place where Vlad the Impaler spent six years in prison.
They are expecting to uncover further evidence that Vlad III was confined here.
Vlad III, also known as Vlad the Impaler, is said to have killed 100,000 people by impaling them on stakes, thus earning the name.
He is the source for many mysteries and literature inspirations.

Keanu Reeves has signed on to star in futuristic sci-fi thriller "Replicas."
It is a story about a neuroscientist trying everything he can to bring back his family killed in a car accident.
Tanya Wexler will direct the film, with production slated to begin spring 2015.
Keanu Reeves is best known for his role in "The Matrix" trilogy. He currently appears in teh action film "John Wick."
Christopher Nolan and Anne Hathaway heading to China
Christopher Nolan and Anne Hathaway are rumored to be heading to China for a promotional tour of their new movie 'Interstellar'.
According to Mtime, they will be heading to China for the film's release on the mainland.
"Interstellar" gives viewers an amazingly accurate view of a black hole in space.
A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
Also starring Matthew McConaughey, the film is expected to be one of the biggest box office hits of the year.
Globally, "Interstellar" is set to release on Nov 7, and will hit Chinese cinema on November the 12th.
