China's Oscars entry "the Nightingale" out today
Chinese-French co-production the Nightingale opens in Chinese cinemas today.
It has been selected as China's Oscars entry for Best Foreign Language Film.
The Nightingale is directed by Philippe Muyl. It is a road movie about an old man and his granddaughter building a bond through their trip.
Director Muyl said it is a remake of his 2002 French film "the Butterfly".
"We initially wanted to make a Chinese version of the Butterfly. But we had a change of mind during the production process. We wanted a more authentic Chinese story. So I thought of using a bird to complete it. "
He says other than actors Li Baotian and Yang Xinyin who play the grandfather and granddaughter respectively, the breathtaking Chinese landscape is the highlight and attraction of the film.

Mexico prepares for Day of the Dead
It's Halloween today but people in Mexico are preparing for their own festival arriving two days later.
Day of the Dead, which falls on November 2, is the day when people welcome home the spirits of their deceased loved ones.
It is a colorful holiday decorated with costumes, offerings, and the symbolic sugar skulls.
Despite festivities such as Halloween encroaching on their culture, Mexicans are confident that their tradition will last.
It has deep Hispanic roots but many of the rituals are mixed with Roman Catholicism.
People usually offer food, alcohol, cigars and set up an altar to souls returning home for this special occasion.
Day of the Dead is also celebrated in Guatemala, Brazil and Ecuador.
