介绍:
Authorities in Sydney, Australia say they've managed to identify the man who continues to hold an unknown number of hostages in a downtown cafe. This, after five people being held inside the cafe managed to flee the hours-long siege. Three men and two women, who sprinted from the Lindt Chocolate Cafe earlier today, have told reporters the suspect warned them that two bombs were set to explode in the cafe. He claims other bombs have been planted at two separate locations in Sydney. His official identity has not been made public. The armed suspect has also demanded the delivery of an Islamic State flag and a conversation with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who issued a public statement earlier today. "We don't yet know the motivation of the perpetrator, we don't know whether this is politically motivated, although obviously there are indications that it could be. We have to appreciate that even in a society such as ours, there are people who would wish to do us harm, that's why we have police and security organisations of the utmost professionalism that are ready and able to respond to whole range of situations and contingencies, including the situation that we are now seeing in Sydney." For more on the situation in Sydney, we're joined live by our Australia correspondent Wang Xiao. 1. Authorities in Sydney have just finished holding a news conference. What else are officials saying about the suspect at this time? 2. There's wide-spread indications this is an act of an Islamist extremist. What are authorities saying about that?
