Death toll from Nepal quake soars to 7,557
The Death toll from the massive earthquake and aftershocks in Nepal has reached 7-thousand five hundered fifty seven.
The number of injuries has risen to more than 14-thousand five hundered.
As many as 11-thousand government buildings were destroyed in the quake while almost 190-thousand civilian houses were flattened.
UNICEF, EU join hands to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Nepal
UNICEF and the European Union have joined hands together to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to nearly 1.7 million children affected by Nepal's earthquake.
To prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases, a large number of water, sanitation and hygiene-related supplies has been delivered to the quake-hit area.
UNICEF and the EU plan to reach 1.7 million children, out of more than 4 million people in need of assistance in Nepal.
Nepal quake-blocked mountain pass reopens in Tibet
Chinese earthquake relief workers have removed a major landslide blocking Gyirong Pass in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
Gyirong is one pass connecting China's Tibet and Nepal.
Landslides cut off traffic via the pass and destroyed the immigration and customs office on the Nepal side.
Chinese police have removed 80 tons of rock blocking the road as of Tuesday, making a narrow space for vehicles carrying quake relief goods to enter into the area.
A police officer says Chinese relief workers would try their best to repair the road.
Dozens migrants may drown dead in waters off Sicily
Another tragedy has occurred in the Mediterranean waters with dozens of migrants feared dead.
According to aid group, Save the Children, a boat has sunk off the waters in Italy's Sicily island.
It is still unclear how many people were onboard the boats.
Rescue ships are said to be approaching the site of the accident.
Original timeline for Singapore-Malaysia High Speed Rail not realistic
Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has met with his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak at Singapore-Malaysia Leaders' Treat.
Lee announced at a press conference that the original timeline for the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur High Speed Rail project may be delayed.
He explained the initial target of 2020 may need to be re-assessed given the scale and complexity of the project.
But Lee reaffirmed that both countries are fully committed to the success of it.
Meanwhile, he pointed out, the terminus in Singapore for the high speed rail would be located at Jurong East.
The High Speed Rail project between Singapore and Malaysia was agreed upon in 2013.
It is expected to boost connectivity, enhance business linkages, and improve people-to-people ties for both countries.
Clinton to testify at special panel's hearing on Benghazi attacks
Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will testify before a special congressional panel investigating the terror attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya three years ago that killed four Americans.
Clinton's lawyer, David Kendall, informed the lawmakers that Clinton would appear before the panel in the week of May 18th, as requested by House Representative Trey Gowdy.
Clinton had already testified at a Congressional hearing on the Benghazi attacks in January 2013 when she was still in office.
She defended herself by saying that requests for more protection of the consulate in Benghazi did not reach her desk.
Fears of tsunami downgraded after 7.4-magnitude quake hits PNG
Fears of major tsunamis have been downgraded after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake rocked the ocean floor 150 kilometers south of Papua New Guinea on Tuesday.
A tsunami alert was immediately issued after the quake.
But the latest advisory from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the tsunami threat has largely passed.
An aftershock measuring 5.9 hit the region within half an hour of the original quake.
So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
The area itself is one of the most seismically-active regions on earth.

World's largest oil trade show sees more Chinese presence
The world's largest oil and natural gas trade show has kicked off in the energy hub of Houston, the United States.
The annual Offshore Technology Conference has attracted thousands of energy giants from around the world to attend the industry gala.
Many Chinese oil companies also attend the event.
These include Sinopec Oilfield Services Corporation and China Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation.
Organizers of the conference say about one tenth of all exhibitors are from China.
The four-day event includes exhibitions, panel discussions by high-profile speakers and technical sessions.
