This year's Shanghai International Film Festival is underway.
Of the nearly 21-hundred films submitted for consideration at the event, 9 have been selected to compete for the top prize, the Golden Goblet.
They include selections from Russia, Poland, the US, France, South Korea and Taiwan.
The jury is being led by Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev.
His most recent work "Leviathan" took Best Screenplay at Cannes last year.
'Leviathan' is also going to be screened out of competition in Shanghai this year.
This year's festival includes 45 screening locations, up from last year's 35.
Two theme-screening events, the 'Internet Film Carnival' and 'Jackie Chan Action Movie Week,' will also take place.
Walt Disney is also going to screen all six 'Star Wars' movies for the first time in China.
It comes ahead of the much-anticipated release of Episode 7, "The Force Awakens" later this year.
A number of award-winning films, including 'Birdman', 'Whiplash' and 'The Theory of Everything' will be screened at this year's festival, which runs until the 21st.
