Six fugitives back to China from Indonesia The Ministry of Public Security says six suspects wanted for economic crimes have been returned to China from Indonesia. One of them is accused of contract fraud worth some 10-million yuan. This brings the total number of fugitives repatriated to China under the "Fox Hunt 2015" campaign to 256. "Fox Hunt 2015" began in April. It's part of a broader campaign to hunt down Chinese economic fugitives who have fled abroad. Investigation into deadly Guangdong highway collapse A 3rd party investigator has been brought in to determine the reasons behind the collapse of a highway overpass in Guangdong on Friday which left one person dead and four others injured. Four vehicles, loaded with around 100 tonnes of cargo, plunged to the ground after giving way in the city of Heyuan on Friday morning. Officials in charge of the road say they believe the combined weight of the 4 trucks surpassed the maximum capasity of the bridge, causing the overpass to buckle and collapse. The highway itself, which links Guangdong to the neighboring province of Jiangxi, is less than 10-years old. It opened for traffic in late 2005. Two shot, one killed in North China One person is dead and another injured following a shooting in the city of Cangzhou in Hebei. Authorities say four men in masks confronted the victim and another man after they were leaving a liquor store in the city, which is about 90-kilometers south of Tianjin. One man was killed on the scene, while the other was wounded, but managed to escape. The extent of the injuries to the survivor have not been made public. Authorities are still on the hunt for the shooters. Police have not said what they think the motive might be. This is the 2nd shooting in the city of Cangzhou this month. Chinese Economy to bottom out in Q3: think tank report A new academic study is suggesting the current downturn of the Chinese economy is going to bottom out in the third quarter of this year, and then begin picking up. The analysis from Renmin University is suggesting economic growth will begin to pick up slightly in the 4th quarter through a rebound in the property market and consumer purchases. The Renmin study says increasing incomes and a revival of foreign trade are expected. The report also predicts steady economic growth by 2017. Guideline promises further e-commerce support The State Council, China's cabinet, has released a guideline saying that the customs administrator will streamline customs procedures for e-commerce exports and imports to make the processes simpler and quicker. The quality supervision authorities will allow collective declaration, examination and release of goods. The guideline says the government will keep export taxes low while formulating import tax policies. It will also encourage domestic banks and institutions to launch cross-border electronic payment businesses and advance pilot overseas payments in foreign currencies. China continues storm alert for Dragon Boat Festival holiday The National Meteorological Center continues its blue alert for heavy rain in south and west China on Sunday, the second day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The NMC has warned local authorities to monitor the conditions and take precautions against waterlogging, landslides and other potential disasters. China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Afghan forces kill 120 militants, recapture key district in northern province Afghan officials say they've managed to regain a strategically-important district in the northern part of the country from the Taliban. This comes after days of heavy fighting in the district of Yagman in the province of Badakhstan. Badakhstan is the province which shares the Afghan border with China. Afghan forces have retaken the area after the Taliban rolled into the region last week, forcing Afghan troops out. Officials say around 120 Taliban fighters, including a number of key commanders, have been killed in the assault. Badakhstan, home to ethnic Tajiks, was a stronghold area for the Northern Alliance in its fight against the Taliban during the Afghan civil war. S. Korea reports 3 more MERS infections, 1 death South Korea has reported three more infections with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome and one death. This brings the total number of cases to 169 and the death toll to 25. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the three new cases include a doctor at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul and a radiographer at Konkuk University Medical Center in Seoul.
