Kevin Spacey reprises House of Cards role for Alibaba in China
The Netflix political drama "House of Cards" is big in China.
No wonder then that its star Kevin Spacey managed to muscle his way onto a four hour Chinese TV extravaganza celebrating Singles Day, China's annual online 11/11 shopping spree.
In his presidential persona from the series, Spacey made a video taped address as the power hungry and amoral President Frank Underwood.
In the two minute video, Spacey says in Underwood's Southern drawl that he envies people in China who can shop online during the Singles Day sale.
"Here at the White House, there's so many firewalls blocking me from shopping online that not even the President will be able to take advantage of those amazing deals you'll see online during this holiday."
The Alibaba hosted variety show was held at Beijing's Water Cube, built as part of the 2008 Olympics.
It featured a 'who's who' of Asian pop stars such as Eason Chen as well as some Western names including Daniel Craig and Adam Lambert.

'Spectre' Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Movie Explosion Ever
"Spectre" may not be the biggest James Bond film ever, but it has set a new world record.
The Guinness Book of World Records has announced that one of the scenes in the sequel to "Skyfall" includes the largest film stunt explosion of all time.
The massive explosion, which lasts for more than 7.5 seconds, was filmed in Morocco.
It takes place mid way through the film. Bond and Madeleine Swann are in the middle of a desert and witness a massive criminal facility blown to pieces.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the explosion needed 8,418 litres of kerosene along with 33 kilograms of powdered explosives.
Released on November 6, "Spectre" nabbed the second biggest Bond debut of all time, grossing 70.4 million US dollars at the domestic box office.
It surpassed "Quantum of Solace" and came just behind "Skyfall", which reached 88.4 US million dollars in 2012.
'Monkey King: Hero is Back' to Screen in over 60 Countries Overseas
Chinese animation film 'Monkey King: Hero is Back' is set to be screened in over 60 countries, setting a new record for foreign sales of a Chinese-made 3D animation.
The film has pulled in some 956 million yuan, or over 150 million US dollars, grabbing the title of the highest grossing animation in Chinese film history.
Taking 8 years to complete, the animation has been adapted from the famous legend of the Monkey King but tells a completely different story, hoping to appeal to Chinese audiences of all ages.
As the enthusiasm for the project spread across the world, the makers have sold the distribution rights worth roughly four million US dollars to over 60 countries.
It also featured on the covers of 'SCREEN' and 'Animation Magazine' earlier this month.
The film's producers have said they plan to hire an American team to dub the voices for the characters, in order to appeal to foreign audiences.
The overseas release dates of 'Monkey King: Hero is Back' have not yet been unveiled.
