Rescue team mourn victims of Shenzhen landslide Rescuers and officials on Saturday have mourned those who died in the landslide that hit an industrial park in south China's economic hub Shenzhen city on Sunday. Rescuers downed their tools and listened to excavators and vehicles sounding their horns in memory of the victims of the landslide. White flowers were scattered on the debris. It's almost a week since the landslide, and the mourning ritual was held in line with the Chinese tradition. So far only one man has been pulled from the debris. The death toll is confirmed at seven, with 75 still unaccounted for. Rescue work continues although chances of survival have now become slim. A State Council investigation team confirmed Friday that the landslide was a work safety incident, not a geological disaster. The investigation team said in a statement that the tragedy was caused by the collapse of a huge pile of construction waste, rather than any natural geological phenomenon. One Confirmed dead in Gypsum mine accident in east China One miner has been confirmed dead among 17 others trapped in a collapsed gypsum mine in east China. Among the 11 rescued miners, one was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized. Rescue work is still underway. A total of 29 people were trapped underground when the collapse occurred at about 8 a.m. Friday in Pingyi County, on the outskirts of Jinan, capital of Shandong province. According to the official microblog of the China Earthquake Networks Center, the collapse caused an tremor measuring four on the Richter scale in the area. The shock affected local rail services, with 10 freight trains halted and eight passenger trains delayed on Friday morning. The Local railway authority said all services had resumed as of noon on Friday The cause of the collapse is still under investigation. French reporter's press card declined for speaking for terrorism The Chinese Foreign Ministry has confirmed that China has refused to renew press credentials for a French journalist for her comments regarding terrorism. Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang says the journalist, Ursula Gauthier, published an article on November 18 in which she overtly voiced support for terrorist activities. In the article, she blamed the Chinese government's policy in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for terrorist attacks. Gauthier is a Beijing-based correspondent for French news magazine L'Obs. Lu says China ensures the legal rights of foreign media organizations and journalists covering China stories, but will never tolerate the so called "freedom" of speaking up for terrorism. China ranks first worldwide for outbound tourists New figures show that China has contributed the world's largest number of outbound tourists in 2015. About 120 million Chinese have traveled overseas this year, up from 109 million the previous year. Data from the China National Tourism Administration shows that the number is nearly 13 times the level in 1998. More relaxed visa policies and rising disposable incomes have been cited as the reasons for the increase. Meanwhile, China's booming domestic tourism market saw over 4 billion journeys in 2015, generating tourism revenue of over 4 trillion yuan, or about 620 billion U.S. dollars. Charter Flight Brings Fresh Chilean Fruits to Shenyang The Northeastern Chinese city Shenyang on Saturday welcomed a plane load of fresh Chilean cherries and blueberries. Importer Dalian Yidu Cold Chain Company says the cargo plane is the first of regular charter flights to carry Chilean fruits to China's northeast. The China Eastern Airlines flight has shortened transportation time to 20 hours from the previous 25 days by ship. It stops over in Los Angles before heading to Shenyang. Air deliveries of fruits and other foods to Shenyang have become more common, as the city strives to become a transit hub for imported goods in the northeast. China imported more than 5 billion US dollars worth of fruit in 2014, up 25% year on year. About 50 migrant workers missing in renewed landslide in Myanmar A renewed landslide in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin State has left about 50 migrant workers missing. Some 121 people died in a landslide more than one month ago in the same area. The landslide occurred on Friday evening at another dumped soil site near the same Hpa-kant jade mining area. This year has seen seven similar incidents in the same area. Israeli Police Fatally Shot Palestinian Man in Latest Conflict Israeli security forces shot dead a Palestinian man on Saturday near Jerusalem's Old City. An Israeli police spokesperson said the man had tried to stab an officer. Tensions and conflicts have been mounting between Israel and Palestine in the last three months. The violence has been fueled by Palestine's frustration over Israel's occupation of land and the expansion of Israeli settlements.
