New 'Game of Thrones' star Pilou Asbaek has teamed up with 'Borgen' writer Tobias Lindholm for a third time for the upcoming film 'A War'.
Dealing with contemporary wartime issues, the film is a sharp analysis of Denmark's military involvement in the Middle East.
In the film, Asbaek plays a Danish military commander, who is captured and threatened by the Taliban.
The 33-year-old actor says he felt like an amateur when shooting the film.
"Yeah because we were working with real professional soldiers who have all been based in Afghanistan a couple of times and if I was the guy who would fall out, if I was the guy who couldn't handle a gun or didn't know how to navigate in the weird military language that they got. I would be an absolute idiot because then it wouldn't be so realistic. It would show so much lack of respect for these professional soldiers who have invested so much time and effort in our film."
'A War' has been praised as a potential Oscar winner after impressing critics and audiences at its Venice Film Festival premiere.
The film will represent Denmark at the 2016 Oscars, competing for the Best Foreign Language Film.
'A War' will be released in the UK and Ireland on January 8th.
