Authorities in China's southern island province of Hainan have loosened limits on duty-free purchases.
Non-locals are allowed to buy duty-free goods on the island more frequently than the twice a year allowed under previous rules.
The maximum value of purchased goods has been increased to 16,000 yuan, or some 2,400 U.S. dollars.
The policy change will come into effect on next Monday.
Wang Huiping at Hainan's Finance Bureau said the two duty-free stores, in Sanya and Haikou respectively, are also going online.
Tourists can collect their online purchases at the pick-up points in the airport with their boarding passes and ID cards.
"We've allowed two physical duty-free stores to open online because we want to combine the tax-free system with online shopping. It is in accordance with current consuming habits and will provide more convenience for tourists. Meanwhile, the information on offshore plane tickets can help with management. So the tourists can go sightseeing in Hainan without affecting shopping."
The current policy allows non-locals to buy at duty-free stores only twice a year, with each time capped at 8,000 yuan.
