AMC Entertainment is acquiring rival Carmike Cinemas to create the world's largest movie theater chain.
AMC, bought by Chinese property and investment company Dalian Wanda Group in 2012, says it's paying 1.1 billion US dollars including debt for Carmike.
AMC will pay 30 dollars per share in cash to buy all of Carmike's outstanding shares, which represents a premium of 20 percent compared to Carmike's share value at the close on Thursday.
AMC, the second-largest movie theatre chain in North America, now has nearly 400 locations and 54-hundred screens in the US.
The combined company signals Wanda's further expansion into the entertainment industry.
The group agreed to acquire a majority stake in Legendary Entertainment two months ago, valuing it at around 3.5 billion dollars.
