The International Monetary Fund has denied a media report that it has asked China for more data on currency operations.
An IMF spokesperson has issued a statement saying that China subscribed to the Special Data Dissemination Standard at the end of last year and has submitted its data accordingly.
The statement adds that the IMF has not asked for any additional information and the organization and Chinese authorities are in close dialogue.
The statement responses to a Wall Street Journal report, which said the IMF is calling on the Chinese central bank to release more data on its holdings of derivatives such as forwards.
