The latest data shows more signs of recovery in the Chinese property market.
Of 70 large and medium-sized cities surveyed last month, 62 saw new home prices increase month on month, up from 47 the previous month.
Meanwhile, eight cities reported month-on-month declines, down from 15 in February.
On a yearly basis, 40 cities posted new-home price increases in March, while 30 reported decreases.
Data also showed new-home prices soared 63 percent year on year in Shenzhen, the sharpest increase among all the major cities, followed by Shanghai, Nanjing and Beijing.
The property sector has been a significant supporting force for China's economic growth.
The country's housing market started to recover in the second half last year, boosted by interest rate cuts and lower deposit requirements, after cooling for more than a year.
