During the Albertville Winter Olympic Games in 1992, China saw Ye Qiaobo clinch the country's first winter Olympics medal, a silver, in the women's 500m speed skating event.
In 2002, Yang Yang triumphed in the women's 500m speedskating, bringing China its first gold medal at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
China reaped brilliant achievements with 11 medals in the Vancouver Winter Games in 2010, including five golds, setting a record for the country as it finished in seventh place in the medal table.
