Little Bean was a lovely little girl. She loved her father. All she wanted was her father to read her a story.
“Daddy, daddy! Please can I have a story?” asked Little Bean.
“Not now. Little Bean. I’m tired.” said her father.
The little bean had to play all by herself.
“Come away, Little Bean. Your father is busy.” said her mum, “he has to go away tomorrow.”
“Will he read me a story before he goes?” asked Little Bean.
“Only if you are awake!” said her mum. Little Bean was very happy with that.
The next morning Little Bean woke up early and then she went downstairs with her storybook.
“Where’s daddy?” asked Little Bean.
“Oh, my darling. Your father had to go early. He’s going to be very busy.”
“Well. I can be busy too!”, thought Little Bean.
Then Little Bean became busy. She was busy playing ball. She was busy having lunch. She was busy answering the phone. She was busy feeding her gold fish and she was busy brushing her teeth and busy saying good-night to her puppy. But at the end of the day she said “I wonder where my daddy is?”
Little Bean’s daddy was busy. He was busy at meetings. He was busy eating. He was busy phoning. He was busy reading and writing all day long. Then he was getting ready for bed and busy brushing his teeth. But at the end of the day he said. “ I wonder what my Little Bean is doing right now.”
The next evening Little Bean’s father stopped at a bookshop. He bought his little Bean many storybooks. When he hurried home, Little Bean was already fast asleep.
