The University of Macau has issued letters of admission to two senior high-school students who were injured while stopping a knife attack on bus in east China's Jiangxi province, Xinhua reported on Thursday.
Liu Yanbing and Yi Zhengyong, both senior students at Yichun No. 3 Middle School in Yichun, Jiangxi province, were injured on May 31 while trying to stop a man who was attacking passengers with a knife on a city bus.
The two boys missed taking the national college entrance exam, or gaokao, due to their injuries. When their story gained media attention, the two boys were allowed to take the gaokao, at a later date—marking the first time the government has re-scheduled the gaokao for any student.
University of Macau paid close attention to the two boys after the incident, and dispatched a special team to the school to learn about their respective academic performances and extra-curricular interests.
The university is also offering the two students each a scholarship and living allowance of about 30,000 Macau dollars (roughly 28,000 U.S. dollars).
