"Downton Abbey" is ringing in the holidays with an upcoming Christmas special. Matthew Good wanted to give fans a surprise gift by appearing in next month's special, but the present was unwrapped early.

Word got out that Matthew Goode will play a potential suitor for Lady Mary in the upcoming holiday episode, which airs in the U.K. on December 25th.
Goode confirmed his appearance at the New York premiere of "The Imitation Game" – in which he plays alongside "Downton" co-star Allen Leech.
"That leaked unfortunately. I wanted it to be a surprise and then suddenly it's like and now everyone's like, people love kind of ruining it for themselves like 'So, what are you gonna be doing? Are you gonna be doing this?' I'm like, 'I'm not gonna tell you.' But I have shot it. Allen (Leech) was there and we had a lot of fun and really another huge, ensemble cast."
Goode currently plays an attorney on CBS' "The Good Wife", which also boasts a large cast.
Despite his commitment to that show, Goode says he wants to appear on "Downton Abbey".
"I'm hoping so yeah. I'm hoping so because I had so much fun doing it and I don't really like working without Allen Leech. That's my main thing in life," he smiled.
Goode also shed a little light about George Clooney's rumored involvement in the Christmas special.
"George is not in the Christmas special. I think he does something for Comic Relief maybe so it's a skit that he does rather than becoming a main character."
Held every other year, Comic Relief's next Red Nose Day charity fundraiser will be broadcast in March.
"Downton Abbey" recently already finished airing its fifth season in the UK, and will also be renewed for a sixth season.
