Filming of the third season of "House of Cards" has stopped because of a dispute between the show's producers and the state of Maryland, where the political drama is set.
The first season reportedly received $11 million in tax credits from the Maryland state government while the second season is getting $15 million. Now, the production company is asking for another $15 million for the third season but only half of that is being offered. Maryland officials say more money is impossible. Media Rights Capital is considering filming elsewhere if the conflict over taxation is not resolved soon.
Film and television production companies are usually offered tax breaks in order to boost the local economy of where filming occurs.
