Sonnet 155:The Old King&`&s Fool 《第155首十四行诗:老国王的愚蠢》 注:2010年5月,蒂姆阿诺德在伦敦艾尔美达剧院表演了《第155首十四行诗》,这场根据莎士比亚的主题进行再创作的表演仅上演了两晚。 以下只附录本尼朗读部分:(BC朗读角色为李尔王的影子) BC:Does any here know me? This is not Lear. Does Lear walk thus? speak thus? Where are his eyes? Either his notion weakens, his discernings are lethargied.Ha! waking? He&`&s not so. Who is it that can tell me who I am? BC: How,how, cordelia? Mend your speech a little, Lest it may mar your fortunes. BC:But goes thy heart with this? So young, and so untender? Why,thou wert better in thy grave than to answer with thy uncover&`&d body this extremity of the skies. Is man no more than this? Consider him well.Thou ow&`&st the worm no silk, the beast no hide, the sheep no wool, the cat no perfume.Ha!Here&`&s three one&`&s are sophisticated! Thou art the thing itself;unaccommodated man is no more but such a poor, bare, forked animal as thou art.Off,off, youlendings!Come, unbutton here.
