介绍:
Helen Mirren won her first Oscar for portraying Her Majesty in 2006's Stephen Frears' film "The Queen." She then reprised the role in the acclaimed 2013 West End production of "The Audience." And now, she'll be bringing Queen Elizabeth II to Broadway. "Well I have to do it, I'd prefer not to quite honestly. I don't like revisiting stuff like that but because it was so successful in London and it hasn't been seen in America. Many people would love it to be seen in America, not in the least the director and the writer and so on and so forth and the American, possibly the American audience. We'll see. So I feel sort of duty-bound really to fulfill that but once I've done that, that's it, that's the end of that story for me. That's it, really, enough." The Audience follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from 1952 to the Diamond Jubilee in 2012. This isn't Helen Mirren's first time on Broadway. She's been here twice before -- 2001's "Dance of Death" and 1995's "A Month in the County" -- both of which earned her Tony nominations. Mirren said she's well-aware of the hard work she has coming up ahead. (SB2, Helen) "It's just a lot of work. It's so much- oh God. That is going to be a challenge". After playing 'The Queen' for so many years, Mirren was asked what it was like to actually meet Queen Elizabeth II in person. She admits she was thrilled to come face to face with Her Majesty in person, except for the "Queenitis" she suddenly developed. "Do you know, the weird thing is I can't remember. There is a photograph, I went to the palace fairly recently. It was a function for the arts so there were all kinds of people from all different arts there and it was a little reception. I was one of the many other people and I met the Queen along with everybody else, just a second or two with her and someone officially took a photograph and I've got my finger up like this and the Queen is kind of laughing and this photograph was sent to me and my husband said, 'What were you saying?' I said you know I cannot remember. I still can't remember. I have no idea because it really when you meet the Queen everything goes out of your head. You just stand there going, 'Oh my God it's the queen. It's the Queen, oh my God. What do I do? What do I say? How could I look not normal and natural'? And of course you look completely unnormal and completely unnatural." "The Audience" will play a limited run on Broadway. It will begin previews in February 2015 for a March opening on Broadway.
