New "Doctor Who" stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman met their fans in Mexico City, giving them. a glimpse of the new season's first episode.
They have been on a world tour of seven cities across five continents to promote the new season, which premieres this Saturday on BBC America.
Capaldi says it is a fantastic experience to see the public reaction in the Latin-American country.
"I was watching you guys, watching this and it was so fantastic because we could see the screen and we could heard your screams and applause and I was so happy that you like what we had done."
The series' writer-producer Steven Moffat says he is not worried the 56-year-old Capaldi won't be appealing to young fans.
"Is that why Santa Claus never worked as an old man and kids didn't like him? No, not remotely. Look, I hate to tell you this but to kids Matt Smith was ancient, right? I mean, we're all ancient to them, so not remotely, no."
Although the Doctor has changed, his companion has not, as Jenna Coleman returns as Clara Oswald.
Capaldi says Oswald is quite a key figure in the show.
"I think Clara's really the only person that can tell The Doctor what to do and he's very bonded to her and has a very deep affection for her, so although she drives him crazy sometimes he can't stop inviting her to travel with him."
During the event, Capaldi and Coleman came out of the "TARDIS" and joked with their fans.
The show has remained popular over the years because of its flexibility as the Doctor is capable to regenerate into new bodies and transport to any point in space or time.
