Getting a family of six out the door on time can be quite a challenge - even when you're a Beckham. The former football star said the following at an event for his fashion collaboration with British brand Belstaff.
"With me and the boys, 5 minutes. With Harper it's a lot more of a process and obviously with Victoria. She will come into my dressing room and she'll be like 'Daddy, wear those shoes with those jeans.' She's got her own kind of mind and her own character already. So it's great."
The famous family has made a name in fashion with Victoria Beckham's high end collection gracing the runway at New York fashion week and sons Romeo and Brooklyn gracing magazine covers and Burberry ads. But it turns out 3-year-old Harper is the one calling the shots when it comes to Beckham's personal style.
Beckham said he lent much more than his name to the six piece capsule collection, which includes leather motorcycle jackets, a pair of distressed jeans and a classic, white tee.
"I have always been involved 110 percent. I think it's how things are successful when you are totally involved. And with this I sat with the creative team from day one and we sat down and we talked over exactly likes and dislikes and you know the creative team is so great at Belstaff and the mood board, to be honest, from the first day I stepped in the building, it was like they got me right straight off, straight off the bat. So it's been a great relationship so far."
The 39-year-old former England captain also partnered with Belstaff and photographer Peter Lindbergh on a limited edition coffee table book.
Beckham says he's loving retirement and the shift in focus to fashion and family.
"Obviously it's something that totally different to what I have done over the years. I've had my moments of missing playing, but you know I think that watching my kids play, watching them train, you know has taken over that kind of void of what I used to do."
Asked if he was a typical "football dad," Beckham smiled.
"I am one of those dads because I always know how good they can be at times, the boys. And you know obviously all dads are the same, you know very competitive, you want to see your son do well and I am one of those dads. But you know these days you're not allowed to say too much on the sidelines. And I tend not to be honest because I want the boys to make mistakes their self and correct their selves, you know? So I kind of let them get on with it."
The dad of four offered this advice to Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who recently announced they are expecting their second child.
"They definitely need to get a little more sleep because jumping from one to two is a process, but I am so happy for them you know. They're great parents and they prove it day in and day out with the lives that they live and obviously the commitments they have you know that it is obviously difficult. But their main focus will always be their children."
Beckham's Belstaff collection is now available online and in stores.
