介绍:
He is an adventurer, television host, and crosstalk performer. Now he has a new title - writer. This is Liam Bates, who hails from Switzerland. He came all the way to China on his own when he was only 16 years old in 2004, with the dream of learning the Chinese martial art of kung fu that he had obsessed about for years. After graduating from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada, he returned to China in 2010. He participated in the Ninth Chinese Bridge competition, an annual Chinese proficiency competition for foreign college students. With brilliant performances displaying his talents for kung fu, crosstalk and tongue twisters, he won the first prize. Bates is also a part-time TV host on China's Travel Channel, where he gets the chance to experience the lives of normal Chinese people living in very remote areas. His travels around China inspired him to he write a book in Chinese, called "Fun is serious business" or Wan Cai Shi Zheng Jing Shi in Chinese, the first travelogue written in Chinese by a foreigner. Xiong Siqi sat down with Liam Bates to find out more about his Chinese complex.
