介绍:
When Jim Carrey met Jeff Daniels in "Dumb and Dumber" 20 years ago, the epic idiocy and bromance on the silver screen have developed a cult following for two of the most remarkable buffoons in movie history. Now they are back with a sequel: Dumb and Dumber To. So is the second installment able to live up to its predecessor? Let's follow Li Ningjing to find out the answer. Reporter: "Dumb and Dumber" fans, it is time to rejoice. Because there's a sequel to this 1994 comedy hit which features a pair of lovable doofuses named Harry and Lloyd. Playing the fluffy-haired, big-hearted but dimwitted Harry, the Newsroom actor Jeff Daniels explains what drove his comeback. "You know what drove it? Was over the years people of all ages, not just 12-year-old boys, people of all ages were coming up to us and going, 'Hey, come on, hey, come on.' So after 15 years of that you're going, this might.. they want it. So it's the fans of the first one, that drove the sequel." The sequel, named "Dumb and Dumber To", fast forwards 20 years and revolves around Harry finding out he has a daughter who was adopted. It took directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly four years to get that first film made in 1994 and about the same amount of time two decades later. But Bobby says the sequel pitch to the studio wasn't that hard "This time it was like people knew what it was -- it was 'Dumb and Dumber' -- but they wondered, have you waited too long? The beauty is Harry and Lloyd don't change. they're little boys, they still are. They're a little older, but they're the same guys. And so for us it's a lot of fun to write those characters, and to film it, too." But what changes after twenty years? Jim Carrey, who portrayed a chip-toothed, mischievous loser who goes bonkers in the original film, elaborates. "Well, back then I was pretty myopic about, you know, ooh I've got to make it, I've got to do something really important and now I'm Jim Carrey, friend to man and beast. I am everywhere. I am all things, seen and unseen. So it's a bit different." "Dumb and Dumber To" opens in North American theaters in November and reaches the UK on December 19.
