Starring Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II, the Biblically-inspired epic "Exodus: Gods and Kings" tells the story of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, led by Moses.
During the film's world premiere in London, the Oscar-winning actor explained the pressure of the role:
"It feels wonderful, look, it is a story that has resonated, it is a story that means an awful lot to a great deal of people. I feel an awful lot of pressure in portraying this character but I think that is completely appropriate and I feel like we have taken a new approach to this which hopefully you will recognize in the film, I won't describe it."
The film focuses on the initial close, brotherly relationship between the two lead characters and ultimately what happens to Moses and how those events turned the two against each other.
Director Ridley Scott, who has produced classics including "Blade Runner," "Gladiator" and "Alien" admitted feeling no pressure when making the movie as he'd done his homework.
"If you track back and research them carefully you find there is a degree of fact in them and Moses was definitely a very factual, very important figure in almost 3 denominations."
Playing the role of Nun, father of Joshua this time, Sir Ben Kingsley brought some experience from when played Moses in a TV series in 1996.
"I knew a little bit about the weight that was on Christian (Bale)'s shoulders and how he would carry it and he carried it magnificently. "
"Exodus: Gods and Kings" opens in the United States on December 12 and the UK on December 26th.
