Derived when Abraham Lincoln saw damaged ships that floated at a tilted angle, and thought they looked like lame ducks. Later used for political officials without power to make change

Definition: Win something mainly through luck
Etymology:
In casinos when people played poker there would be a pot of money, In this older version of poker, people had to pass if they did not carry at least one jack. Eventually the pot became the jackpot.
