Do people all believe in fortune telling? Some may say yes, but others may not. However a song named "Bu-Gua" ("卜卦") or translated as "divination" in English, has fascinated an incredibly huge number of netizens and become quite a hit on the Internet.
Since the song's debut in August 2011, its rocketing level of popularity has also pushed young music producer Cui Zige from behind the scenes into the spotlight.
Following more than three years of development, the young Indie pop singer Cui Zige embraced her new album the Master of Love, the sixth album she has released to date.
The Master of Love contains a total of ten songs, all of which are about love, as the singer explains.
"All ten songs are love-themed and about people's attitude towards love. A song called Ji-Mo-DNA(寂寞DNA) or "The Lonely DNA" in English is about our generation of young people's lifestyle as well as their different attitudes toward love. With every single song containing a question on romance, all ten songs are designed to be thought-provoking as to how people should behave in love affairs."
Though Cui Zige is known as a singer-songwriter, her new album has only one song with music composed by the singer herself.
"The name of the song is Xin-Shang or Appreciation in English, which is the theme song of a TV drama series aired on Hunan TV station. The majority of my new album are the songs produced by other musicians. I hope my next album would have all the songs written by myself."
The Master of Love is actually her first album, after she signed the contract with the Wonderful Music Company, an agent company that designs and helps promote singers from both Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
At a press conference arranged by the company on Wednesday afternoon for promoting both the singer and her album, Hong Kong actor and director Francis Ng Chun Yu (吴镇宇)also sent a message of congratulations.
Francis Ng and Cui got to know each other and became friends during their first cooperation in Ng's self-directed 25-minute short film Sansheng-Juzi ("三生-橘子") or Three Charmed Lives last year, in which Cui Zige produced and sang the theme song for the film.
Thanks to that nice start for their cooperation, Cui has disclosed that she would continue such cooperation with the famous Hong Kong actor-director in her next album.
"I plan to sing viral songs which may well reflect our attitude towards all aspects of life. I do wish my cooperation with Francis Ng Chun Yu will be a joint performance of viral songs."
In recent years, Cui Zige has continued to garner fame on the Internet by singing such viral songs with interesting lyrics as Laopo-Zuida ("老婆最大") or "Wife is Number One" in English and Hao-Nan-Ren-Dou-Si-Naer-Qu-Le ("好男人都死哪儿去了"), or "Where the Hell All the Good Men Go?" in English.
