Nicole Kidman has brought her Australian made drama "Strangerland," to this year's Sundance Film Festival.
In the film, Kidman stars alongside Joseph Fiennes, as a mother and father whose teenage children go missing.
Kidman says visiting Utah and seeing its mountainous landscape puts life into perspective.

"You know I've been here with many different films and that's fantastic. That says something about the festival. It's also.. so nice, because it does put it in perspective when you look at- and you just see snow-capped mountains and you go - I don't know - I think balance is always good and you can always say, 'It's just a film,' which is, I know that can sound blasphemous, but it is just a film."
Joseph Fiennes says he is happy to bring the film to the festival.

"It's my third time here and um I have to say it's so difficult to see a movie get financed, especially the independent movies, especially if it has a tough subject matter so you just have to keep reminding yourself how fortunate or lucky it is when something gets made and let along being made gets into a festival and a festival like Sundance so very happy."
The film is about a family that find their dull life in a rural outback town rocked after their two teenage children disappear into the desert, sparking disturbing rumors of their past. Hugo Weaving plays a police officer in charge of the investigation.
Kidman says the low cost film has a great cast.

"Lucky to make our days and dealing with a really complicated subject matter and watch her finding her way as a director and find her vision and and fight for things. I love that and I love being able to support her. And working with Hugo (Weaving) again who I worked with before and working with Joe (Fiennes) and just watching um a great Aussie cast you know."
Kidman also says she will not stick around the festival but is going home to her family as soon as she can.

"I'm a family girl. I'm going straight home to my hubby and my kids."
