After three years since the release of his debut album "Curtain", 32 year old Edison Lin has given his fans a new soulful treat. His new album "1000 suns," includes 11 romantic songs.
In an exclusive interview with CRI, he discussed the inspiration behind the songs in this album and even revealed his personal favorites among the new songs.
"There is only one sun in the universe. Solar energy from one sun contains such a huge amount of radiant light and heat. We could imagine what magnificent powers a thousand suns together may demonstrate. I really wish my songs could convey that strong, positive strength to all my listeners. I highly recommend my song 'Love is Belief', the 11th song of the album, because love is our shared belief and I think everyone deserves an equal chance at love."
According to Edison Lin, 'Love is Belief' is chosen as the ending theme song of Cruel Romance or Jin Xiu Yuan in Chinese ("锦绣缘"), a TV drama series which is expected to debut on Hunan Television this coming March.
And Jin Xiu Yuan stars famous Chinese mainland actor Huang Xiaoming alongside Joe Chiau En (陈乔恩), an actress, singer and model from Taiwan.
In fact, except this ending theme song of Cruel Romance, many other songs in his new album are love songs, as Edison Lin explains.
"In the process of this album's production, I have cooperated with many renowned music producers. They commented that my voice is sort of warm. The majority of my songs are love songs, which mainly target female audiences from varying age groups. I hope my songs would accompany them in all aspects of their lives no matter whether they are at work or in love affairs."
"1000 suns" is Lin Xinyang's second album which was released late last year. His debut album "Curtain" was released in February 2011 and comprises 10 songs that encompass different kinds of emotions that he experienced while pursuing his musical dreams.
And before that, Lin Xinyang had found a group of loyal followers online in the three years of intensive training and appearances in TV dramas.
Today he has around 150,000 followers on Sina Weibo, China's largest microblog. But Lin says he wants to refrain from defining his singing style too narrowly.
"So far, I'm still exploring my style which may enable listeners to recognize me when they hear my singing instantly. But I don't want to repeat those songs that have already been sung by other singers. If I'm lucky enough to gain a chance to cooperate with music producers on the mainland in future, I really wish I could sing some catchy pop melodies with their help. That feeling must be marvelous."
Lin also hinted that his next album will be released in April or May this year, both in the Chinese mainland and in Taiwan. He has his eyes set on a very high goal.
