The American pop duo The Carpenters is a familiar name for Chinese audience members in the 1980s. With a distinctively soft musical style, Karen Carpenter's warm vocals and her elder brother Richard Carpenter's sophisticated compositions and arrangements were embraced by a huge number of Chinese fans. The duo was ended in 1983 by Karen's death from heart failure. The classic music they've created, however, would never fade. Today, a UK band named the Karpenters, spelled differently with a "K" as the first letter, would take Chinese audiences on a nostalgic journey through the life and times of the Carpenters.
