An Internet sensation, a comic Mini-series called Surprise or Wan Wan Mei Xiang Dao ("万万没想到") in Chinese, will be adapted for the big screen.
The series show director Yi Zhenxing, more commonly known by the name Joy Show, has been earning fame for being one of China&`&s most popular online video directors.
Although it&`&s Joy Show&`&s first big screen adaptation, the director has confidence for the quality of his upcoming film. This is in part due to the many heavyweights he&`&s invited to join the production team.
Han Han, one of China&`&s most prolific writers, is a part of this team.
Han Han jokes about his role in the coming production.
"It&`&s my honor to be this film&`&s Chief Art Officer. I have long been a loyal fan of Surprise and I like the mini drama very much. Meanwhile, I am an old acquaintance of Joy Show. (叫兽易小星) It is his maiden film. We have had a lot of discussions on the script design. I wish this film would be a success."
Also with famous director Huang Jianxin as the film&`&s production supervisor, the film that tells a story about a diaosi, a popular slang word in Chinese meaning "loser," is hoped to meet audience members at the start of 2016.
Since "Surprise" was first shown on video streaming website Youku in August 2013, the mini-series has attracted over two billion hits so far.
