David Beckham opened the inaugural store in Macao for Swedish fashion giant H&M.
The 40-year old former footballer has collaborated with the fashion chain to launch a body wear and mens essential wear collection. He said that he was excited to see the reaction from the fans toward his design.
To market the body wear collection, in 2013 Beckham teamed up with pal, British director Guy Ritchie to make the ad campaign. Ritchie directed a scantily-clad Beckham running through the streets of Beverly Hills in nothing but his underwear. Beckham recalled the fun times they had while making the campaign:
"Guy was one of the first people that I spoke to and got his advice and he had an idea. I think what we did was pretty incredible. You know, obviously he is great...he's an amazing film director. So, to do a campaign like this was interesting for him. I think he did an amazing job. I think people saw the humor throughout the (TV) spot, and that was something that we really wanted to get across. Running around the streets in my underwear was definitely something I've never done before. So it was interesting, but it was fun."
Last month, Beckham celebrated turning 40 on May 2nd, with a lavish birthday bash in Morocco with family and close friends. There was something else that Britain was celebrating the same day - the arrival of Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, the baby girl of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Beckham said that it is very "special" to share the same birthday with the new princess:
"I feel very special to have the birthday that I have but also to share that with the Princess (Charlotte) is obviously very special, because I'm a huge royalist, and the Royal Family have been a very special part of my life for many many years, from my grandmother. So yeah, to share my birthday with the princess is special."
A footballer-turned-global style icon, Beckham is married to singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham. Together, they have 4 children, Brooklyn (16), Romeo (12), Cruz (10) and Harper (3). Calling their family nothing but "normal", Beckham said he squeezes in quality family time in between his busy work schedules. When asked what he wants for father's day, Beckham replied that he just wanted some "time" with the kids:
"All I can ever ask from my children is to spend time with them. I think that's the biggest gift they can ever give me. Love, and hugs, and kisses, and, you know, just some time. You always want time to spend with your parents, your mother and your father. I hope that continues with my children."
