Love at First, or Ai Zhi Chu Ti Yan in Chinese("爱之初体验") is originally a song written and sung by Taiwan rock musician Chang Chen-yue. And it was contained in Chang's album This Afternoon is Very Boring or Zhe Ge Xiao Wu Hen Wu Liao (这个下午很无聊) issued in 1998.
Unexpectedly the words of this song motivate a creation of screenplay. Cinematographer-turned director Hai Tao interprets how he understands the lyrics and has developed it into a movie "Love at First".
"As we all know, the song Love at First has lyrics that go like this: "Am I destined to shed tears for my first love at the age of 18?" In fact, the first love when we are young is fresh, sentimental but sincere. And this is love, which is simple but touching. I'll try my best to move audience members with a vivid portrayal of all types of emotions, including the moments in tears and laughter."
The story centers on a quiet boy Tian Xiaoye, who is good at developing his relationship with three girls who starkly differ in their personalities.
Zhang Chao, who was a little known actor before he played a second lead role as Luo Ji in film Somewhere Only We Know, directed by veteran Chinese actress Xu Jinglei, now, rises to the first lead role as Tian Xiaoye in Love at First.
Zhang Chao, who is better known as a singer than an actor, talks about his new film.
"The three main actresses represent three different types of females, who all help me grow up. The film poses a great challenge for me as a leading actor for I would co-star with around 50 actresses in it."
Love at First not only gives Zhang Chao an unprecedented experience as an actor, but helps Li Xiaofeng show her other talent beside hosting programs at several provincial-level satellite TVs.
She has recently unveiled many of her first attempts to promote the upcoming film.
"As a TV program hostess, the film enables me to first study acting. Meanwhile, I've never done an on-screen kiss like this before. Since both Zhang Chao and I are not professionals in acting, thus, we know little acting skills."
The film Love at First is another movie adaptation from a song within a month.
Last month, 46-year old talented music producer and director Gao Xiaosong announced he would adapt one of his most classic songs, Shui-Zai-Wo-Shang-Pu-De-Xiong-Di "睡在我上铺的兄弟"or Brother Who Sleeps in My Upper Bunk Bed, to the big screen.
But Love at First seems to come out first in terms of screen date, for the movie show times will begin from August 7th.
