Maybe you are worried about how the pollution will stifle your ability to keep fit in China. That is a legitimate worry, but there is no reason you cannot find some activities to keep you fit here. -Try joining some clubs,
-one running club I frequent is the Hash House harriers, they are a bit vulgar, but they offer Sunday runs, full moon runs, and hikes every month, of course u need to pay your dues, u need to plan trails as well,
-Try joining some hiking clubs,
-Beijing hikers, or Beijing hardcore walkers are great examples of this,
-To try local ones, you can reach out to college hiking groups, these will be way cheaper,(the international ones are very expensive. )
-There are plenty of swimming pools, with who knows what level of water cleanliness,
-Olympic green, also a great date location,
-archery tag, oh yeah, this is a fun game,
-use the expat sites called Internations and Meetup to find sports clubs.
-squash
-backpacking expedition
-skiing
-swimming,
-badminton
-plenty of rock climbing parks, one is in ritan park,
-Colin Friedman FC group,
-rugby chaoyang park
-skating, you can go indoors, but you can also skate on houhai in the winter months,
-yoga
-I just use my company gym, but if u need to find a gym, the most important aspect should be longevity. Many gyms and yoga places are notorious for going out of business before your membership contract ended, if u choose a gym, it should be based on proximity to your home and office, and whether it has been around for a long time.
(In the past I used Hosa)
-Some a very scammy, for example California fitness, which has since closed, used to claim to offer a free month trial, but that was not actually true.
-Dragon boat (Beijing International Dragon Boat team)
