Carly J Hallman has lived in China for well over 5 years. It’s during that time, she found her personal experiences and observations of the dynamic modern China so overwhelming that she thought she might as well document it all in her first novel Year of The Goose.
She speaks with Nillah Nyakoa about this book that has garnered a lot of praise in the literary circles from around the world.
Carly was born in southern California, raised in a small Texas town, and spent five years living in Beijing, China. In 2010, I graduated summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas with a degree in English Writing and Rhetoric.
She is the author of the novel Year of the Goose (Dec. 2015, Unnamed Press), and the memoir, A Farewell to Walmart (Nov. 2016, Little A).
