介绍:
In this edition of My China story, I speak with two very talented photographers who are trying to push the old school art of photography amidst the rise of selfies in China. Selfie or no selfie and or how do you get a good selfie? I wanted to know their answers. So I sought to catch up with both to talk about their photography experiences in China, and what makes China photogenic. ******************************************************************************* Marina Barayeva is a fashion and contemporary portrait photographer based in Beijing. Having been brought up in a small city in her native Russia, Marina finds China a completely different yet exciting playing field with a variety of uniqueness in her subjects. And because she loves working with people, it’s the diversity here that has since inspired and continues to fuel her passion for photography. She describes her style as Modern and elegant. Today her talent is taking her beyond China, where she has been capturing some powerful and compelling images. In China, she has also established a strong fan base amongst the expat community. Marina’s utmost desire is to leave her objects feeling elegant, comfortable and beautiful from her work. ***************************************************************************** Bruce Connoly on the other hand is a radio host and photojournalist from Scotland. Bruce has been living and photographing China for the past 30 years. He is amongst a handful of expats I know that have almost entirely lived through the dynamic transformation China has been undergoing. Below are a few pictures taken by Bruce. An experienced photographer, he is mesmerized by how fast technology has taken over China by storm giving rise to the Selfie culture. A photography culture he’s not really a big fan of. And we totally do agree. His take on selfies; “It’s comical”!
