介绍:
A British mum Rebekah Musson said she does not regret her decision to get her baby's ears pierced at just four months old, despite other parents having strong views against it. In the video posted online, a baby can be seen screaming as the piercing is made while her mum tries to soothe her by putting a dummy in her mouth, prompting parents to label it child abuse and call for it to become illegal. The mother said she has not had one bad comment about her daughter's pierced ears but nice things to her face and he daughter would be glad she got them done young, agreeing with her is the child's father. She also pointed out many parents choose for their children to have other painful cosmetic surgery procedures for vanity reasons which are not frowned upon as much as piercings. Talking points: 1. The 23-year-old mum-of-two has defended her decision and says her now two-year-old daughter Maddison only cried for a split second and loves her earings. - Miss Musson from Longhill, east Hull, said piercing them cannot be compared to child abuse. - "My daughter loves her earnings and she sees herself as batman with pretty ears. It's much easier to get them done as a baby than when they're older. Fact. - "She looks beautiful in her earrings, and she loves to change her earrings when mummy does and wears all different ones. 2. The father: Paul Willby said: "My ten-year-old girl got both her ears pierced at about eight months old and she loves her ears pierced. "She doesn't hate us for getting them done, she's glad she got them done young and on holidays she can wear dangly ones." 3. Responses of some other parents: - Many parents said they are against it, with one mum saying the video made her cry and others calling for social services to be brought in. - Kelly Artley said: "I cried watching this. It's a form of abuse." - Sarah Watt said: "It's a clear case of child abuse in my opinion and when I see young babies with their ears pierced I feel absolutely disgusted in their parents. - "We are in modern day society and still removing a child's human right of choice. - "I think the social services should tighten up rules. I think the minimum legal age should be three, as the child is able to understand the procedure and aftercare and most of all able to consent." 4.
