The incident happened Friday afternoon at the Shidu Natural Park, located 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing in the city's Fangshan District.
As seen in a popular online video, the victim separated from the cord on the third bounce and fell into a river over which bungee jumps are made. Bystanders are heard screaming as the victim is seen plunging into the water with a splash.
Following the accident, an unidentified 17-year-old Tianjin female was taken first to Fangshan No.1 Hospital and later to the People's Liberation Army Hospital where she was described as being in stable condition without life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident local safety inspectors have decided to temporarily shut down the Shidu bungee jump facility as it investigates all facilities at the park.
The manager and some of the staff on duty during the time of the incident have also been fired
