Saudade
Olivia Foster was a typically beautiful maiden at the age of twenty.
She was not that kind of girl who stunned the boys using their definite
prettiness. But something under her peaceful face would attract you to
come to her, to trust her: the love of an elder sister, the love you got from
one who loved others, caring for others earnestly and secretly wanted to
be loved the same way, like Olivia.
Just after her first year of teaching, Olivia began to walk home with
a young man. That was where the romance began.
“I’m so in love with you.” “I will wait for you till we are together again, dear one.”
Not long after that the girl who was left in the small town found that
she was in the family way. To make it worse, her lover stopped writing
letters to her. Alone, she gave birth to a boy and raised him up.
Something inside Olivia had become too enormous to handle, to
ignore. Something, that was ignored deliberately when she was expecting,
resurfaced and demanded more definite answers from alive humans than
her hollow imaginations. Some sleepless nights she found herself
whispering to the pillow, “Why are you not here, Adri?I’m not blaming
but...I’m so lonely.”
And then on one night with dim moon light, the same moon light as
it was when she walked with her lover, Olivia took an adventure.
