Once upon a time, there lived 3 little pigs. One day their mother told them it was time to go out into the forest and for each of them to build his own house. The 3 little pigs were excited and set off together.
This is going to be fun. Oh look, there’s some straw over there. I’m going to use it to build my house.
It doesn’t look very strong.
Don’t worry so much, big brother. I’m sure his house of straw will be fine.
I don’t think so but it’s up to you, little brother.
It’ll be great. I can build my house of straw quickly and then I can have fun playing in the forest.
So the 1st little pig built his house of straw very quickly and went to play. The other 2 pigs kept walking.
Oh look, there’s a pile of sticks. I can use that to build my house.
I don’t know. I don’t think you can build a very strong house with thin sticks like those.
Oh you are worrying too much again. I will build my house quickly and then find my little brother and we can play together.
OK. It’s up to you but I’m going to find something strong to build my house with.
The 2nd little pig quickly built his house of sticks and went off to find his little brother. He found him near his straw house and they played hide and seek all afternoon. Meanwhile the 3rd little pig had found a pile of bricks. An old farmer had left them there and forgotten about them.
Oh what a wonderful pile of bricks. I can build a strong, safe house with those. It’ll probably take me a few days but in the end I will have a great house.
The 3rd little pig worked very hard on his house. When he was almost finished his 2 brothers came to visit.
Big brother, aren’t you tired of working all day. Come and play with us.
No thank you. I want to finish my house. Then I can relax and I will be safe from the big bad wolf.
Big brother you always worry too much. We have been playing in the forest all day and haven’t seen the wolf. I don’t think he is here. Come and play.
No, I have to finish my house.
The first 2 pigs laughed a little at their serious brother and went back to their playing. The next day the 3rd little pig finished building his house. Meanwhile the 1st little pig was in his straw house when he heard a knock at the door.
Little pig, little pig let me in.
Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.
Then I will huff and puff and blow your house down.
The wolf huffed and puffed and the house of straw fell apart. The wolf chased the 1st little pig who quickly ran to his brother’s house of sticks.
Little pig, little pig let me in.
Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.
Then I will huff and puff and blow your house down.
The wolf huffed and puffed and the house of sticks fell apart. The wolf chased the 1st and 2nd little pigs who quickly ran to their brother’s house of bricks.
Little pig, little pig let me in.
Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.
Then I will huff and puff and blow your house down. Go ahead and try.
The wolf huffed and puffed and puffed and huffed but he couldn’t knock down that strong house of bricks. The wolf took a break and looked at the house carefully. Then he saw a chimney and thought he would climb down the chimney to get the pigs. The pigs were listening hard though and they heard the wolf climbing up the outside of the chimney.
Hurry little brother. The wolf is coming down the chimney. Go get a pot of boiling water.
Yes brother. What will I do with it?
Put it under the chimney over the fire of course.
Oh, what a good idea.
When the wolf came down the chimney he fell right into the pot of boiling water and burned his tail.
Ouch, ouch. My tail! Ouch, ouch!
The wolf ran away and never came back.
Can we stay and live with you big brother?
Yes, yes can we stay with you? You built such a wonderful house.
Will you work hard and not spend all your time playing?
Yes, we will work hard if you take the time to play once in a while.
Ok. It’s a deal.
And the three little pigs lived happily ever after.
